Are you familiar with GoodReads? If yes, skip to the bottom of the page. If the question-What is GoodReads- just popped into your head no worries, I will explain everything and by the end, you will be signing yourself up, and have something new to consume your time!
If you are an avid reader, and don't have a GoodReads account, I highly suggest you get one! GoodReads is a site where you can keep track of what your currently reading, what you want to read and what you have read.
Many people, including myself, get to the end of the year and wonder what have I been reading this whole year? This site helps with this problem. It tracks the day you started the book and the day you ended it. You can also rate the book 1-5 stars depending on how well you liked it and you can write a review. You can make the review as general as you want or as descriptive as you want. I find that if you write a very detailed review, you can go back and read the highlights and be ready for the next book in the series, a book in the same world/story but another chracters point of view, or even another book by the same author. Super helpful and a time saver!
Also on GoodReads you can become friends on GoodReads with your friends, classmates, family members etc and see what they are reading or what they have read or plan to read. I love this factor because I can see what my friends/family enjoyed or didn't enjoy. Book stalk your friends and family-a bookworms dream.
Just like Facebook, Instagram and other social networks you can see whats new with your friends. What they have added or how far along they are in a specific book and you can comment on these statuses. Get them excited to read a book on their TBR pile or encourage them, you promise the book gets better.
When you are finished with a book and mark it as Read, and you really enjoyed it you can suggest it to certain friends by checking their names. This allows you and other people to have a recommended list from friends and what they think you will enjoy.
If you don't know what to read next you can get lists of books you might enjoy based off of books you have read or a certain genera you like.
GoodReads can send you emails of new books coming out for the month from your favorite genera/s, author/s, and publishing companies.
Also you can enter to win giveaways in your favorite genera/s. You can enter as many giveaways as you want to and if you win they will send the book right to your house.
You can set reading goals. When you set goals it will tell you how far along you are with your goal with a percent sign and how many more books you need to read to make your goal. It will tell you how many books a month you have to read if you want to make your goal in the certain amount of months you have left in the year.
You can join a group, maybe one that reads a book a month out of your favorite genera. This way you can finally have someone to talk to about reading! Or you could make a group with some friends a read a book together every so often and talk about it. Discuss each chapter together and different elements of the book.
Another helpful tip if to get the GoodReads App. If you read on your phone get your books and app in sync and it will automatically update after you read and tell you and your friends the percentage you are through the book you are reading.
There are so many more helpful things about GoodReads that I have missed but as you can tell, for a bookworm this is a site sent from heaven. It has so many positives elements that can help with your reading overall and I highly suggest it!
Get all your friends on the Goodreads train and make reading fun for them too!

The Merciless By Danielle Vega
Wow! This book blew me away! Let me give you a little bit of a back story.
Summer began and I was excited for more reading time. As the summer went on I stopped reading as much. I got into a big reading slump. I just got back yesterday from a trip to New York City where I went to the Strand 2 times. I got the Merciless for $9 thinking that it was a new release and I was excited because it was about torture, something I rarely read. Actually I never do. It was going to be something different. When I started I couldn't stop. This book was intense and I was always on the edge of my seat. So I read it in 2 days and got yelled at many times to "Stop reading". Oops.
This book was 5/5 for me. Many people didn't enjoy this book because of the torture aspect, but that is what made this book different. If you cant handle that kind of stuff don't read the book because you wont enjoy it. If you like horror please read this book!
The Merciless is about a girl named Sofia who is new to town. She meets a girl named Brooklyn and they hit it off in the lunchroom. Sofia is torn between Brooklyn and a group of girls I would call the Popular Girls. Riley, the head of the 3 girls in the group of popular girls comes up with the idea for Sofia to spy on Brooklyn to figure out why Brooklyn stopped being friends with them when they got into high school. So Sofia goes to Brooklyn's party and hangs out with a boy named Charlie.
Sofia sees Brooklyn kissing Riley's boyfriend so she runs and runs until she gets to Riley's house and tells her. Riley is very upset. She says they need to help Brooklyn because she is evil. Sofia says yes. Little does she know Riley's idea of helping Brooklyn is a exorcism.
This book had me constantly turning pages. I was always at the edge of my seat from around page 90 mostly. I had to put this book down a few times to just calm myself down and tell myself it was just a book just a book just a book.
If you enjoy horror I highly recommend this book!
ALSO there is going to to more to this series so don't worry when you see the cliff hanger.
This book came out June 12, 2014.
